Unnatural Habitats

Unnatural Habitats

I worked on this piece over a weekend at my studio in Jerome, which is in a pleasant corner of the woods in the Irish Hills area of Michigan. The woodpecker is a garden-variety redheaded, whom I saw on the suet feeder outside. There are a few aspects of this piece that I would have done a bit differently had I known how they were going to come out, but I’m pretty pleased with the overall result.

(Bonus: can you find the fish?)
